Four rules make the guidance more useful.
- Choose the destination early. A store ebook, a direct-download guide, and an editable client handoff need different final files.
- Keep one source of truth. Maintain a clean master manuscript and deliberately generate channel-specific outputs from it.
- Separate editorial passes. Structure, factual support, voice, accessibility, and file validation are distinct checks.
- Inspect the exported artifact. The editor is not the reader. Open the actual deliverable, navigate it, resize it, and test its links and visuals.
A useful ebook is more than generated prose
Readers benefit from a clear promise, an intentional sequence, specific examples, verifiable claims, and a file that behaves as expected. Automation can shorten parts of the workflow; it cannot decide what deserves to be published under your name.

Start with the reader and one outcome.
Write a single sentence: “This book helps [specific reader] move from [current situation] to [observable result].” Then test every chapter, example, image, and output format against that sentence.
